Resolution
I just got a book from the library ( a wonderful institution of society btw) by Adrienne Martini by the title of Sweater Quest. I love this book, so far. She has an interesting tradition that I really like. Instead of making a new year resolution to live your life by or not, during the ensuing year, she picks a word to live by. Her current word is movement (for 2008). I think that I will do the same. It is very discouraging to make a resolution that will be forgotten by the end of the month of January. I will pick the word change. I have been thinking of this word for some time now and so it seems appropriate. So for 2011, I will embrace, plan for and otherwise expect changes. I sure hope they are good ones. Specifically, I want job change, body image change and time allocation changes. Wish me well :)

Long hiatus
Wow, it sure has been awhile since I have posted something, anything.
Quite a lot has changed in that time. I would like to use this space to share some of my thoughts as this appears to be rather private. No one that knows me really well would ever
be reading this so I can write what I would like without anything coming to light that
I might want to remain somewhat hidden (?) so to speak. How can anything put on the internet in a blog format really expected to be private.
Anyway, I'm back.

Names, finally
Well, I finally have named my finches. I was just calling them Thing One and Thing Two.
I wanted something "English" since they are English zebra finches but I was not coming up with anything I liked. Then I was looking up books by Charles Dickens and I hit upon some names. I named the smaller one, Pip, from Great Expectations and the larger one, Oliver, from Oliver Twist. Perfect.

Something New
My but zebra finches are so entertaining. How am I supposed to get things done, like knitting, when they are flitting around and making such cute noises!

Time of Year
This is usually such a nice time of year. The garden is producing nicely, the children are back on a reasonable schedule and the weather is great. I like the hot days and cool nights. Then the trees start to turn such lovely colors. I will have to think about what projects I want to knit this fall and winter.
